Train Cake

A fantastic way to celebrate a kid’s birthday! Our train cake is made with honey, raisins, and chocolate. Its wagons are filled with grapes, grated chocolate, almonds, and oranges.

Dough:
5 eggs
¾ cup sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
15 oz honey
15 oz sour cream
3 tablespoons whipping cream
1 1/4 cups raisins
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
grated chocolate for decoration

Cream:
1/2 quart (473 mL) whipping cream
1/2 can sweetened condensed milk

Follow the directions for the Valentine’s Cake recipe but use a rectangular 10×14-inch cake pan instead. Once the cake is baked, leave it to cool, then cut a loaf of the cake into pieces to make an engine (one rectangle and one cube) and four wagons (four rectangles).

Arrange the engine and the wagons on a serving platter to look like a train. To make the engine, place the cube piece on top of the rectangle piece.

Cover the engine and one of the wagons with melted chocolate and cream. Spread the rest of the colored cream on the other wagons.

Use cocoa or a juice of beet for cream coloring. Draw the windows and lines with writing/decorating gels. Decorate the wagons with grapes, grated chocolate, almonds, oranges and boiled sweetened condensed milk.

You can make the wheels out of round crackers, cookies, or chocolate coins.
